Ready when the job calls.
There's no scheduled kickoff in your line of work. BFR bands build strength and muscle with light weight, fit in a cargo pocket, and go wherever you do.
The problem
The job is already the heavy lift.
The usual answer is lift more, run more, train harder. That works, but the same body that trains in the gym also carries the gear, works the long shifts, and takes the pounding of the job.
So the real question isn't how hard you can train. It's how to build strength and stay ready without piling on more load. That's where blood flow restriction comes in.
How it works
Light weight that works like heavy weight.
Bands go around the upper arms or upper legs and slow the blood leaving the muscle while blood keeps flowing in. That changes what the muscle feels, so a light load hits like a heavy one.
Bands on
Upper arms or upper legs, snug but not tight.
Blood pools
Blood still flows in but leaves slower, so the muscle fills and swells.
Fatigue comes fast
Oxygen drops and the burn arrives with light weight.
More fibers fire
Your body recruits more muscle to keep going, and that's the signal to grow stronger.
Why it fits the job
Built for people who don't get a day off.
Strength at light loads
Build and keep muscle and strength with a fraction of the weight.
Easier on the body
Less pounding on joints and tendons, so you can train hard more often.
Fits in a pocket
No rack, no plates. Bodyweight, a band or a pair of dumbbells is enough.
Train anywhere
In the field, on deployment, at the station, or between shifts.
Short sessions
Real work in 1, 5 or 10 minutes when the day doesn't leave more.
Stay ready year-round
Hold your strength when gym time disappears for weeks at a time.
The system
The 1–5–10 Method™
Not every session should have the same job. Match the dose to the day.
Prepare
A short wake-up before training, a shift or a mission. The goal is activation, not fatigue.
Maintain
Keep muscle and strength on light weight when time or gear is short, without adding stress.
Build
The biggest stimulus, for long-term strength, muscular endurance and work capacity.
Created by Dr. Mike DeBord, founder of B3 Sciences and creator of Bio-Logical Exercise™, built from more than 3,500 BFR training sessions.
The research
Studied in tactical populations.
BFR has been studied for years in athletes and everyday lifters. Researchers are now testing it with the people who do this work.
2026
60 tactical personnel, 8 weeks
Experienced lifters trained 3 times a week. Researchers concluded moderate-load BFR is a practical way to improve performance while reducing the load on the body.

BFR walking vs. walking under load
Walking with BFR produced metabolic responses similar to walking with 15% of body weight on your back, a way to raise training intensity without the ruck.

54 ROTC cadets and midshipmen
Using portable, field-ready equipment with BFR, cadets (41% women) improved military-relevant performance and body composition.

The foundation
A review of BFR research found low-intensity exercise with BFR can increase muscle strength and size, challenging the idea that only heavy loads build muscle.

Everyone who answers the call.
Military
Stay strong through deployments, field time and long stretches without a gym.
Police
Go from a patrol seat to a sprint, a carry or a takedown, ready.
Fire
Stairs, hose and gear at the end of a long shift. Train for that without wearing down.
EMS & veterans
Strength for lifts and carries, and a simple way to keep training for life.
Why B3 bands. Patented multi-chamber air bands spread pressure evenly around the limb for consistent, comfortable sessions. They're Dr. DeBord's choice for the 1–5–10 Method and are used by people from 8 to 90.
